Texas State University
Rush Information
Sigma Phi Lambda at Texas State University holds its Rush once a year: during the beginning of the fall semester. Rush is an opportunity for interested women to learn more about Sigma Phi Lambda. It is a time for you to decide if you would like to be a part of this fellowship. Unlike Panhellenic sororities, Sisters for the Lord does not choose you, you choose us.
Being a pledge includes:
1. She must be under or seeking the covering of a church home.
2. She must be actively involved in a Bible study.
3. She must attend 80% of the pledge meetings and 80% of the active meetings.
4. She must pay semester dues to Sigma Phi Lambda.
5. She must attend the pledge retreat.
6. She must attend a pledge Bible Study once a week.
7. She must fulfill her service requirement.
*She also is assigned a Big Sis, an active who supports her during her pledgeship. (And exchanges gifts with, goes to Big Sis, Little Sis outings, etc.)
At the end her pledgeship (five weeks), she must attend the initiation ceremony. This ceremony is held in a church and there is never any hazing.
